About The Book

Alternaria blight is one of the most serious disease of wheat occur in all wheat growing area of the country. But the severity of disease is varies from variety to variety of wheat. Therefore in quest for resistance response seven wheat varieties like HUW 612 K 508 K 708 HD 3003 K 402 HUW 468 PBW 343 assessed during the course of present study. The observation pertning the data of soluble protein total protein and phenol revealed that all the varieties give variable response to Alternaria blight. The stage of plant also give response of disease in different ways. The possible mechanism of resistance revealed that the higher amount of total phenol and soluble protein resulted lower disease incidence. In this content K 0708 maximum amount of soluble protein showing 31.52 mg/gm 30.79 mg/gm 29.73 mg/gm and 29.50 mg/gm at seedling flowering dough and hard dough stage respectively. Similarly total phenol content was also found maximum with 3.12 mg/gm 2.98 mg/gm 2.75 mg/gm and 2.60 mg/gm at seedling flowering dough and hard dough stage in the same variety.
