About The Book

The first chapter of this book is based on the debate on the impact of prudential regulation and banking supervision on the rise of financial instability in South East Asian countries. Financial liberalization has rapidly accelerated the international financial integration of these countries and the opening up to external financial markets. In this sense the spread of recent financial instability is accelerated in an environment of financial liberalization and globalization characterized by financial and institutional fragility or poor banking governance. In addition the second chapter proposes to analyze that the inefficiency of banking governance mechanisms either through prudential regulation as an external dimension or through the mode of administration as an internal dimension is a source of crises. Moreover the risks in terms of financial instability institutional fragilities and the weakness of the regulatory and supervisory system lead to a lack of governance within banks. The results also suggest that there is a causal relationship
