About The Book

The present investigation entitled “Study on micro-propagation in different cultivars of Banana (Musa spp.) in alley cropping system”was laid out on the experimental site of College of Forestry Sam Higginbottom University of Agriculture Technology and Sciences Prayagraj during 2016-2017 and 2017-2018. The experimental materials comprised of two banana cultivars viz. Cavendish Dwarf and Grade nine (G-9). From each cultivars shoot tip (meristem) were used as a explants for micropopagation for excising shoot tips healthy suckers were collected from the College of Forestry field Sam Higginbottom University of Agriculture Technology and Sciences Pryagaraj.Field experiment was laid in Randomized Block Design with three replication irrigation and drainage channels were laid out for efficient management. The results revealed that the minimum No. of days required for shoot initiation (18.59 & 26.03) and the maximum No. of shoots explant (4.63 & 4.63) and Shoot length (cm) (4.53 & 5.10) was found in treatment T1 Ms+BAP 0.5 mg\l . whereas the maximum plant height (cm)Stem girth (cm) (3.56 & 3.77)Leaf length (cm) (6.41 & 6.58) and Leaf width (cm) (4.69 & 4.82) was found in T1 Cocopeat.
