Studying multiscale precipitation variability

In environmental and hydrological studies issue of variability of precipitation is of great importance particularly for the regions located in arid and semi-arid environments such as Iran. Hence the present study proposed a model using Ensemble Empirical Mode Decomposition (EEMD)-based multiscale entropy (EME) approach to measure and evaluate the monthly precipitation variability and spatially categorize the rain gauges in Iran. To achieve this goal recorded time series of monthly precipitation with length of 612 months (1960-2010) from thirty-one rain gauges used to verify the proposed model.
