The mens toilet door in The Flying Pig bore the legend 'Abandon all hope ye who enters here'. The only hope the women had was avoiding horseflies or frostbite sitting out in their toilet at the end of the yard. Pub landlord Freddie would reluctantly serve them but only through a tiny hatch in the snug. Women weren't allowed to drink pints and were expected to keep the noise down.
