<p>In a village far beyond castle walls there are two mercenaries known throughout the country of Jerich for their incomparable skill. Seventeen-year-old Lilliana Norland and her father Jack are braving the winter when she is offered a job protecting a royal carriage as it passes from the neighboring country of Ahlia. After defending the carriage from bandits Lilliana and Jack are introduced to Warren the crown prince of Jerich who offers Jack a place at Jerich's roundtable and Lilliana a spot in the Arch Church's Officer Academy.</p><p>Upon their arrival to the kingdom Lilliana swiftly learns that she'll need to forsake being a one-woman army and put her trust in her fellow students if she's to survive the Officer Academy. But as seemingly random events cause her to believe her presence is not wanted and a faux-affair leads to a wedding she can't escape; Lilliana is forced to believe that maybe everything has been leading her there.</p><p>During the day Lilliana follows the flow and becomes a student her father would be proud of. But at night when nightmares about war claim her mind she escapes to the training ground where she and her combat professor Nathaniel spend more time sharpening her skills. A forbidden romance brews between them but it's the words of another professor that make her question who she really is. To him she is not just a mercenary or the future leader of Jerich Lilliana is the reincarnation of the goddess Thalia. A detrimental weapon in the wrong hands or the key to keeping peace in the world.</p>
