Sundown in Tembisa

On the advice of his old mentor in Vienna Martin returns to his childhood home in South Africa. But he discovers that the country has changed in his seven-year absence – and not necessarily for the better. Battling with the demons of the ‘New South Africa’ his parents have taken in a new business partner and two families as tenants to improve the security and financial situation on the family estate. But it is a tenuous community of mismatched people and everybody is thinking about leaving the place. Nonetheless Martin attempts to improve the situation on the estate with his artistic and spiritual gifts; and gradually he finds a bond of empathy to the Land and the People. But then one day Martin gets drawn into a racial dispute confronting him with the grim reality of the country. Once again Martin draws upon the memories of his old mentor and attempts to mediate – in the Township of Tembisa at sundown…
