About The Book

Saint Onuphrios the Great was a revered desert hermit of the fourth century known for his extreme asceticism and holiness. He lived in the Egyptian desert for over sixty years clothed only in his long hair and sustained by miraculous provisions. A monk named Paphnutius once discovered him and bore witness to his radiant countenance humility and deep noetic prayer. Saint Onuphrios spoke of his life of repentance and solitude urging all to seek God above all else. After his repose Paphnutius buried him and spread the account of his sanctity. His feast is commemorated on June 12 in the Orthodox Church.
