Surface and Interface Phenomena

This book is aimed at engineering students in the textile engineering specialization. It deals with the various phenomena that occur at surfaces and material interfaces.The manuscript is written in a pedagogical style. It is based on a clear concise text illustrated with numerous didactic diagrams and practical examples. The theoretical underpinnings are presented in a logical step-by-step manner throughout the chapters.The book is divided into three separate chapters. The first chapter presents a general overview of textile surface phenomena based on observations of natural phenomena. The second chapter presents the various theories of adhesion. Finally the third chapter deals with the application of surface phenomena particularly surface tension to the study of material wetting.At the end of the manuscript the reader will be able to evaluate his or her work by answering the various application questions and exercises.
