Young children may excitedly say “When I grow up I want to be a __” ... yet no one ever finishes that with “Correctional Officer.” Most times on TV or in movies Correctional Officers are portrayed as “being on the take” or “untrustworthy goons” or inhumanely cruel; they are almost always “the bad guys” nearly as evil as the criminals they incarcerate.
