In the present book it is intended to analyze how Carbon Capture and Storage (CCS) activities are linked to the Sustainable Development Goals and how Brazil can adjust itself in regulatory terms to the activities in question especially and considering the requirements for its environmental licensing. The Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) is a necessary support for the Environmental Licensing process of activities that cause significant environmental degradation as it is suggested that the activities of CCS associated with the oil and gas exploration and production. Based on how CCS activities are regulated by environmental policies in other countries this book presents possible alternatives to the environmental licensing of CCS activities in Brazil specifically considering the potential for the construction of salt caves for carbon storage in the pre-salt area in other words alternatives to offshore storage.
