Sustainable Environmental Management in Niger Delta Nigeria.

This book represents a collection of findings made by Dr. Collins Norbert Ugochukwu during his PhD research at the Brandenburg University of Technology Cottbus Germany. This book illustrates the various environmental issues facing the oil rich areas of Nigeria - The Niger Delta Region. The oil production in this region of Nigeria instead of being a blessing to the people of this region has rather been a curse; environmental degradation - soil water and air pollution etc. This region''s biodiversity is in total dis-equilibrium. Pollution has impacted negatively on the local economy of this region; the farmlands are destroyed fishing and other forms of livelihood that the people of this region depend on are all impacted. In this book the Author has proposed some policy recommendations to decision-makers at different levels of government to help in tackling this issue thereby fostering environmental sustainability in the region.
