About The Book

This work brings to light highly dynamic scenarios the floodplain ecosystems in the Amazon Basin and its riverine populations with rich culture in current contexts of global climate change. This action-research which culminated with the book aimed at carrying out multidisciplinary diagnoses such as ethnobotanical floristic fishing resources water quality of the Amazon River in the study sites in addition to socioeconomic and cultural diagnoses. These surveys served to understand the current state of sociobiodiversity resources in the 4 studied floodplains two Brazilian and two Peruvian in order to propose rural technological innovations for these flooded environments considering the local climate impacts. The results showed that with the implementation of new technologies specifically elevated vegetable gardens and pond systems netting for fish farming with the riverside families involved in the project there was an increase in income of these actors with no environmental impact thus characterizing the sustainability of the proposed technological innovations.
