Among them are poems in free verse which are for the most part more serious. But even in the rhymed lighter variety there are often dark overtones and a sting in the tail. The collection is divided into themes: political issues religion love gender old age and so on mostly charting the pleasures conflicts and frustrations in life as well as the humour.</p>
