Swords into Ploughshares

This festschrift in honour of Dr. Isaac Mar Philoxenos, Bishop of the Marthoma Church, has been launched to mark the occasion of his 60th birthday. It highlights the need to transform today’s world of conflict and injustice into a world of justice and peace. The biblical vision of peace and justice also invites us to stand up for his transformation. The prophetic invocation of beating “swords into ploughshares” implies that peace cannot be attained simply by disarmament; we need to change our perspectives and attitudes as well. This book is a search for an alternative world—a world that gives primacy to peace and justice.
