Symzonia; Voyage of Discovery

The book tells the story of an American sea captain named Adam Seaborn who sets out on a voyage to discover new lands and riches but ends up discovering a mysterious underground world in the South Pole instead. Seaborn and his crew discover an entrance to the underground world while exploring the Antarctic ice and they enter the vast caverns and tunnels that lead them deep into the Earth. There they find a strange and advanced civilization ruled by a benevolent king named Symzonia who welcomes Seaborn and offers to share the secrets of his advanced technology and knowledge. As Seaborn explores this new world and learns its secrets he becomes embroiled in a conflict between the Symzonians and their enemies a race of violent and savage creatures known as the Gnophkehs. Seaborn must use his wits and courage to help the Symzonians defeat their enemies and secure their future. Symzonia; Voyage of Discovery is known for its imaginative and pioneering portrayal of a hollow Earth as well as its early exploration of science fiction themes and tropes. While it has not been as widely read or studied as some other works of science fiction it remains an interesting and influential work in the genre.
