<p>The Literary Goddess of the 1930s</p><p>二十世纪三十年代的文学洛神</p><p></p><p>Tales of Hulan River takes Xiao Hong's hometown Hulan Town as its subject depicting the distinctive rural customs of this northeastern Chinese settlement and the ordinary lives of its people. The townsfolk are portrayed as both kind and courageous yet also numb to reality resigned to a life of passive endurance. Within this contradiction Xiao Hong channels her nostalgia for childhood and homeland.</p><p></p><p>Stylistically though classified as a novel Tales of Hulan River lacks a conventional narrative structure. Instead it carries the lyrical looseness of prose and poetry suffused throughout with an inescapable melancholy.</p><p>《呼兰河传》以萧红的故乡呼兰镇为写作对象，描写了黑龙江呼兰镇带有东北农村特色的风土人情，及当地老百姓的平凡的生活。那儿的人，既善良、勇敢，又有着对于现实生活的麻木不仁、得过且过。在这一矛盾的情绪中，萧红寄托了自己对于童年、对于家乡的怀念。在创作风格上，《呼兰河传》虽为小说，但是并没有明确的叙事线索，反到带着散文和诗歌的散漫意境，整篇文中都氤氲在挥洒不去的忧伤情绪之中。</p>
