<p>In this wide-ranging collection Susan Bassnett one of the founding figures of translation studies and contemporary comparative literature reflects on comparing literatures translation travel writing and the Humanities themselves. Ranging across forty years of study <em>Tales of Travellers and Translators</em> includes both published and unpublished essays and lectures which combine the scholarly and the personal. Her interests have been inspired by her teaching in various fields from Anglo-Saxon to experimental and innovative theatre all underpinned by a passionate championing of the values of cultural difference.</p><p>Susan Bassnett is Professor Emerita of Comparative Literature of the University of Warwick Honorary Professorial Fellow of the University of Glasgow a Fellow of the Royal Society of Literature the Institute of Linguists and the Academia Europaea and President of the British Comparative Literature Association.</p><p></p>
