In Tarzan Triumphant the story takes place in the 1920s with Tarzan having already established himself as the Lord of the Jungle. The novel is set primarily in the city of Rio de Janeiro Brazil where a criminal organization called the Black Wings is wreaking havoc. Led by a sinister mastermind the Black Wings engage in kidnapping murder and other illegal activities. When Tarzan learns of the Black Wings actions he takes it upon himself to stop them and bring them to justice. He enters the urban environment of Rio de Janeiro leaving behind the familiar jungles of Africa. In the city Tarzan faces numerous challenges as he goes head-to-head with the criminals using his extraordinary strength agility and jungle skills to outwit and defeat them. Throughout the novel Tarzan encounters a cast of colorful characters including both allies and adversaries. He navigates the urban jungle while also facing natural dangers such as wild animals and treacherous environments. Tarzan Triumphant combines elements of adventure mystery and crime fiction. It showcases Burroughs ability to place his iconic character in diverse settings and situations highlighting Tarzans adaptability and resourcefulness. The novel explores themes of justice heroism and the clash between civilization and the untamed wilderness. While Tarzan Triumphant is part of a series each book generally offers a self-contained story and can be enjoyed independently.
