Satoshi Tsukamoto who comes from Japan delves into identity construction of the ESL teachers and their classroom practices. He uses qualitative methods to analyze their racial cultural and language identities and examines the ways in which they perceive and construct their identities surrounded by immigrated children and international students. Satoshi takes advantages of his own situation in which he learned English as a Second Language and studied in the United States as a graduate student. He challenges whiteness American cultural values and English imperialism from his unique point of view. This is a very interesting book and should be read by anyone concerned about race culture language and identity.
