The book discusses being and remaining a teacher based on the results of a survey conducted with experienced teachers at the end of their careers. The analysis of the questionnaires and interviews made it possible to question what it means to be a teacher in contemporary times and what sustains these individuals in the teaching profession given that there is a 'malaise' in teaching and its complexity and dynamism do not allow it to be simplified. This study gave a voice to state teachers in order to understand what they think about the teaching profession and to encourage new directions for thinking about the process of teacher training and the formation of their identity.
