TMJ forms an integral part of stomatognathic system. In the course of the past few decades the subject of TMJ disorders has gained increasing attention among dentists. Temporomandibular disorders is a collective term embracing number of clinical problems that involve the masticatory musculature the TMJ or both & associated structures. Decision making in prosthetic dentistry & in the management of patients suffering from temporomandibular disorders is strongly influenced by the clinical & educational background of the dentist. The multi-factorial origin of TMJ dysfunctions has led to confusion about etiology & treatment. A practitioner should have a good concept of patient‘s condition from the medical & dental history & should use whatever diagnostic modalities available like radiographs computed tomography MRI to verify.
