The term temporomandibular disorders(TMDs)is a collective term involving a number of clinical problems that effect the masticatory musclesthe temporomandibularjoints(TMJs) and teethand asscociated structuresWith advancement of imaging techniques it has become posible to make an accurate diagnosis of the TMD.Treatment approach towards the TMDs could be multidisciplinary which includesSupportive therapythat gives only symptomatic reliefocclusal equiblrationthat removes any defective tooth contacts that prevent the TMJ from normal physiologic fuctioning Occlusal appliance therapythat itself does not cure the disorder rather it helps the TMJ in acquiring most comfortable position in the joint spacefollowed by definitive prosthodontic treatment
