Ten Seconds of Silence: Notes From a DeAccelerated Isle is a replication with only minor revisions of a blog I wrote over the years 2013 to 2016 and which bore the same title. The blog/this book was inspired by life as I and my family experienced it while over a 25-year period we owned a piece of camped upon then finally built living quarters on Galiano Island located within the larger chain of British Columbia's Southern Gulf Islands. The original intent of the blog was to examine our changing times the accelerated change we were all living with on a daily basis in 2013. It focused on the change brought about by the digital revolution but (in an act of unrestrained personal license) more generally it came to look at all forms of change whether that be as the result of technology geography climate evolving gender roles age or any other circumstance which alters over time. If it changes and nearly everything does it was grist for my blogging mill.
