The October 1995 Presidential and Parliamentary elections in Tanzania marked an important milestone in the country's transition to multi- party democracy. It brought to an end the intense debates during the preparation for the elections. The Tanzania Election Monitoring Committee was the main national monitoring group that followed the entire process nationally.
