<p><em>Ayanna Phelps loves being one of The 9: a group of smart kids from the South Side of Chicago who meet in ninth grade on the #9 Ashland bus. Throughout the commute to their prestigious high school their shared laughs fears and misadventures create an undeniable bond. The 9 come to rely on one another on and off the bus but when Ayanna is faced with real life challenges she is forced to deal with one hard truth: Staying connected with her friends may be more difficult than she expected.</em></p><p></p>
