THE ADSORPTION EFFICACY OF OXYTENANTHERA ABYSSINICA IN PRODUCED WATER

About The Book

The main aim of the work is to investigate the adsorptive capacity of a local agricultural material oxytenanthera abyssinica (bamboo sp.) in adsorption of oil and grease from produced water. The scope of work done at the terminal facility of the industry was limited to analysis of produced water constituents in terms of physic-chemical parameters disperse oil content and trace metals and adsorption experiment on disperse oil and trace metals. Identification of treatment facilities and methods used in the dehydration unit of the terminal facility were also done. The results generated from analysis of physico-chemical parameters were compare with the existing records of the industry and these were then compared with the stipulated limit set by the regulatory body DPR.The result of metals analysis revealed the potential of adsorbent as a bio-remediation material for metals found in produced water but since there is inconsistency in result scientific conclusion cannot be made. Experimental validations of results are needed for a scientific conclusion to be made.
