<p>Criminal defense attorney Darcy Cole has his hands full. In the middle of one of the biggest cases of his distinguished career an unsatisfied former client puts out a contract on his life. To make matters worse Darcy is suffering through a midlife crisis. Although he is a successful attorney he feels old and lost and weary and during his frequent sleepless nights he wonders just what he has to show for his life.</p>

<p>Darcy's beautiful self-centered client Lynne Tobias has been charged with arranging the murder of her wealthy husband for the insurance money. Her flamboyant behavior creates problems for her defense and the suspense mounts as Darcy duels with a brilliant female prosecutor who matches his courtroom strategies trick for trick. When justice finally prevails the verdict is as unpredictable as the ending.</p>
