The Aesthetic Ideologies of Modernity

This book presents a brief journey through the history of aesthetic ideologies which form the whole image of modernity from a literary and artistic point of view. We study how the aesthetic imagination and ontology changed starting from les modernes then passing to the art of the Enlightenment Romanticism symbolism Parnassianism modernism and the Avant-garde. In the second part of the book we try to investigate the way in which literary critics theorists and historians of literature and art understand the idea and the concept of ”modernism” while also trying to find out if postmodernism the ideology following it represents just an evolution of modernism or a completely different epistemological and aesthetic paradigm.
