<p>An accomplished older woman brings the next generation into her close-knit team to look for ways to protect the Local Neighborhood. Together they must find a way to stop the invading Olmeri.</p><p> </p><p>This is the fourth book in the eight-book series. Ambassador Micha Lawrence tells the High Council they must start training the next generation. </p><p></p><p>The High Council approves her plan to create an accelerated training program. She goes to Ras 2 to ask Sentar to arrange a tournament. It's the fastest way to evaluate all the candidates. But the students can't know. N'amani and several of his friends arrive to help with the preparations. Maru B'ani and Galen arrive to help with the evaluations. They get dressed in their formal robes and reveal themselves to be the Five Elements. After the tournament they are disappointed to only find three. They decide to make it an advantage. They can take the New Kids with them on a survey mission to start their training. But they are diverted to stop an Olmeri incursion. Captain Logan asks Kell to fly the Magellan. He helps them escape. The New Kids spot a pattern in the way they take over planets. Traders have let the Alliance know that not all the Olmeri are happy about the destruction. Maru and B'ani prepare to go to Xuru an Olmeri world to contact the resistance and learn what they can.</p><p> </p><p>The stories offer a rare glimpse into the inner world of traditional martial arts training.
