The Anti-Slavery Examiner Part 4 is the fourth volume in a series of influential pamphlets published by the American Anti-Slavery Society. The series edited by key abolitionists like William Lloyd Garrison and Arthur Tappan sought to expose the moral political and legal injustices of slavery and to mobilize support for its abolition. This volume like the others was part of a broader effort to educate the American public on the immorality of slavery and the need for immediate emancipation. In Part 4 the publication focuses on deepening the arguments against slavery often by addressing specific legal social and religious defenses used by pro-slavery advocates. It includes critical essays and reports that discuss the impact of slavery on the nation’s moral fabric as well as its devastating effect on enslaved individuals. The volume also highlights the role of the church and other institutions in perpetuating slavery challenging their complicity in the system. In addition it examines the impact of slavery on both free and enslaved people arguing for the moral imperative of abolition.
