The Appearance of Psychological Disorders in Edgar Allan Poe's Fiction

Edgar Allan Poe was a prominent person in American literature whose remarkable writing influenced and shaped the literary trends on a global level. His works are most known for the sombre atmosphere and tragic characters which might raise some questions in the topic of psychology. In this thesis I attempt to draw parallels between some of his works and certain psychological disorders by literary analysis thus highlighting the representations of the mental illnesses in Poe's fiction.
