About The Book

The Arabian Nights: Thousand Nights and a Night is a collection of Middle Eastern and South Asian stories and folk tales compiled in Arabic during the Islamic Golden Age. The stories are primarily told by Scheherazade a legendary queen and storyteller who saves her own life by telling her husband King Shahryar a new tale every night for one thousand and one nights. Volume IX of Richard F. Burtons translation of The Arabian Nights contains several popular tales including The History of Codadad and His Brothers Story of the Princess of Daryabar and The Kings Son and the Ifrits Mistress. In The History of Codadad and His Brothers three princes embark on a quest to save their brother Codadad from a powerful sorcerer who has imprisoned him. They encounter a series of challenges and obstacles along the way but ultimately succeed in freeing Codadad and restoring him to his rightful place as a prince. Story of the Princess of Daryabar follows the adventures of a young prince named Aladdin who falls in love with the Princess of Daryabar. He must overcome a series of obstacles and challenges in order to win her hand in marriage including battling a giant serpent and navigating a treacherous mountain pass.
