The Archdiocese

This book is a content analysis of 2402 record units catalogued from the first eight years (1959-1967) of circulation of the newspaper O Arquidiocesano - the official organ of the Archdiocese of Mariana. The aim is to contribute to reflections on the participation of civil society institutions in the climate that culminated in the 1964 military coup. It addresses the political participation of the Catholic Church at its grassroots level also through official media outlets. It also seeks to understand how the institution communicates the process of internal transformations it experienced during this period. This work also provides a vast cataloguing index of O Arquidiocesano which aims to contribute to the emergence of other research related to this communication process. Happy reading!
