The Ascension is an ambitious dramatization of the Black experience. Seeking to redeem the respect for and significance of the Black church in American culture and society it embraces a Christian perspective as well as plain biblical truth which arguably influences more of the African Diaspora than recognized. Joseph a young man troubled and perplexed by what his education has challenged about his culture and the relevance of his faith is taken on a journey of discovery to recover for his culture and establish for himself an intimate relationship with God.
