The Astral Plane

The book was first published in 1895 and has since become a classic in the field of esoteric and occult studies. In The Astral Plane Leadbeater describes his experiences and observations of the astral realm which he believes is a level of reality beyond the physical plane. According to Leadbeater the astral plane is inhabited by various entities such as spirits elementals and thought-forms. He also explores the concept of astral projection which is the ability to consciously leave ones physical body and travel on the astral plane. Leadbeaters descriptions of the astral realm and its inhabitants are based on his own experiences and those of other Theosophical Society members. He also draws on the teachings of Eastern mysticism particularly Hinduism and Buddhism to explain the nature of the astral plane and its relationship to the physical world. While some of Leadbeaters claims and ideas have been criticized and disputed by skeptics and scientists The Astral Plane remains an important and influential text in the field of occultism and spirituality.
