About The Book
Description
Author
An American entrepreneur commercial tycoon and philanthropist of Scottish descent Andrew Carnegie. One of the wealthiest people in history Carnegie oversaw the development of the American steel industry in the late 19th century (and richest Americans). He rose to prominence as a philanthropist both in the British Empire and the United States. In the 18 years before his death he donated nearly all of his wealth—about $350 million—to foundations charities and educational institutions. His 1889 paper titled ""The Gospel of Fortune"" exhorted the wealthy to use their wealth to better society and sparked a philanthropic upsurge. In 1848 Carnegie and his parents left Scotland for America. Carnegie was born in Dunfermline.
