I Served With The 7Th Infantry Division In The Pacific Back In 1945 And 1946 And That, I Believe, Is What Inspired Me To Write This Story. But This Is Not A War Story, Not At All, Even Though All The Action Takes Place In Wartime America In 1944. It Is, Rather, A Salty Tale About The Trials And Tribulations Of A Young Man Who Was Caught Up In The Wartime Draft Of That Era. I Mention My Military Service Only To Lend Credence To Some Of The Events That Take Place In This Story. I Took Pains To Express Myself In Simple, Everyday Language Throughout The Book, And Used Easy To Understand Words And Phrases To Make A Point In Various Situations. The Book Itself Is Made Up Of Interrelated Comic Situations Absorbing Events And Circumstances Told In A Ribald Fashion, And Which I Tout As Sophisticated Adult Humor.
