Arab-Muslim architecture is an architectural style that developed in the Arab and Muslim world from the 7th century onwards covering a vast region from Spain to India. It is characterized by elements such as horseshoe arches domes minarets and geometric and floral motifs.The history of Arab-Muslim architecture dates back to the early days of Islam when Muslims began building mosques for their worship. The first mosques were simple with open spaces for prayer and roofs supported by columns. Over time however mosques evolved to include more complex architectural elements.Some of the most famous architects in Arab-Muslim history include Al-Wasiti Al-Zahrawi and Ibn al-Rumî. These architects designed such iconic buildings as the Great Mosque of Cordoba in Spain the Al-Azhar Mosque in Cairo and Tamerlane's mausoleum in Samarkand.
