The Novel Begins With The Discovery Of A Gruesome Murder In A Locked Room In A Lodging House In London'S East End. The Victim A Retired Pawnbroker Named Mr. Grodman Is Found Stabbed To Death With No Apparent Signs Of Forced Entry Or Exit From The Room. The Only Clue Is A Cryptic Message Written In Chalk On The Wall: The Big Bow Mystery. As The Police Investigate The Crime They Find Themselves Baffled By The Apparent Impossibility Of The Murder And The Lack Of Any Obvious Suspects.
