As Bobby Owen investigates further he encounters a cast of intriguing and sometimes eccentric characters each with their own motives and secrets. The novel combines elements of a traditional English village mystery with a detective story as Bobby Owen uses his intelligence and deductive skills to unravel the truth. E.R. Punshon was a prolific writer of detective fiction in the Golden Age of Mystery and his Bobby Owen series featured a likable and intelligent detective who solved crimes through a combination of intuition and careful investigation.
