This novel tells the story of Richard Shelton during the War of the Roses: how he becomes a knight saves his lady Joanna Sedley and gets justice for the murder of his father Sir Harry Shelton. This book tells the story of young Dick Shelton whose loyalties are torn between a guardian and the leader of the secret fellowship The Black Arrow. It is a portrait of a young mans journey to discover the heroism within himself. A bandit named Ellis Duckworth armed with a black arrow as his trademark weapon assures Dick that his own personal guardian Sir Daniel Blackley unfaithful. As a consequence Dick helps a fellowship of outlaws called The Black Arrow to beat Brackley and win back his lady.
