Happiness was never mentioned. Mrs. Smith's smile faltered for a moment remembering that the Smiths knew nothing of happiness nor did they expect it. Yet she said it in her heart Happiness will come to reassure herself.</p><p>The Black Player and His Pawns is a narrative set in the 1950s and 60s inspired by true events. It follows the life of a young Black boy Ted navigating a world rife with racial and societal challenges. As he matures into adulthood he masterfully cultivates relationships with multiple women simultaneously plaiting a complex net of love deception and survival.
