The Boy Aviators on Secret Service; Or Working with Wireless by John Henry Goldfrap follows the thrilling adventures of Frank and Harry Chester two young aviators who are tasked with a secret mission by the U.S. Navy. The story begins with the boys being summoned to Washington D.C. where they are briefed by the Secretary of the Navy about a stolen explosive formula and the disappearance of its inventor Lieutenant Chapin. The boys are to construct a new airship the Golden Eagle II and use it to locate the missing lieutenant and the criminals who have taken him into the Everglades. As they work on building the airship the boys encounter various challenges including a suspicious man named Nego who seems to be spying on them. They also receive unexpected help from their old friend Billy Barnes a young reporter eager to join their adventure. The boys' efforts are further complicated by a plot to destroy their aerodrome which they narrowly avert thanks to a warning from Lathrop Beasley a schoolmate who overhears the conspirators' plans. The narrative is filled with suspense and action as the boys along with their companions prepare to embark on their mission. They must navigate the dangers of espionage sabotage and the treacherous terrain of the Everglades to succeed in their quest.
