About The Book

THE BRIDGE AT SAN OVEDO is to be the directorial debut of second-unit film director Paul Silverton. It is a film depicting the final days of the Spanish Civil War. The film company Dimitrios Film Productions have had a wooden bridge built at San Ovedo spanning a small river across which in the final scene which Paul is to film the remnants of The International Brigade escape. The bridge has been built by Francisco Petri with the aid of the local mayor at a very handsome mutual profit using conscripted villagers as unpaid labour. The project was masterminded in London by Uncle Sanchos a distant relative of Francisco's late wife. Unfortunately Sanchos neglected to tell Francisco that the film company only wanted the bridge to blow it up! What complicates the matter further unbeknown to Francisco who has attained local sainthood by his selfless devotion to San Ovedo the bridge is to be blessed by the local priest and named THE FRANCISCO PETRI BRIDGE.....
