They are a mysterious species of psychic refugees arriving from an unseen distant world. For years they were studied and admired. Now in the wake of the catastrophic Chicago Storm they are feared despised and hunted. Former Orbital Patrolman Emmett Hayes is tasked with the latter. He's an Old Dallas soldier with a special hatred for the <em>reachers</em> (a common slur) making him more than happy to participate in their total expulsion from the Earth. However along the course of this galactic genocide he may be fated to discover a brighter love than he's ever known.</p>
