The Casting Away of Mrs. Lecks and Mrs. Aleshine

The Casting Away of Mrs. Lecks and Mrs. Aleshine follows the misadventures of two middle-aged women Mrs. Lecks and Mrs. Aleshine who find themselves shipwrecked on a deserted island along with a young girl named Edna. The novel begins with the trio's unlikely journey aboard the Kittiwake a small sailing vessel bound for California. As the ship encounters a series of mishaps and storms Mrs. Lecks Mrs. Aleshine and Edna along with several other passengers are forced to abandon ship and take refuge on a nearby island. Stranded with limited provisions and no means of communication the group must rely on their wits and resourcefulness to survive.
