The Cat came back and other Short stories are a collection of stories from across the plains of Eastern Kenya the Great Rift Valley Nyanza Mombasa Kilifi and the highlands of Western Kenya. The choice of stories was inspired collected and peer-reviewed by the editor''s former literature students. Some of the stories are autobiographical or semi-autobiographical. The stories cover many social problems such as corruption HIV/AIDS breakdown in family ties and immorality among several other contemporary themes. The Cat came back the main story in the anthology revolves around the life of Judoka and his search for his father a disgraced politician in an imaginary African country. It opens when Opaya is serving time at a local prison for a crime he did not commit.
