The causal role of the victim in the commission of the crime

For a long time criminological research has focused on the perpetrator and the act thus forgetting an important part of the criminal phenomenon: the victim. Since crime is the reaction of a personality to a given situation after studying the criminal and the criminal act the next logical step was to study the victim. The present study does not aim at blaming the victims but simply at studying their attitude their behaviour and thus their possible contribution to the crime. It is an etiological study that focuses on the victim's participation in the pre-criminal situation on the one hand and on the act itself on the other.
