About The Book

The book was first published in 1898 and outlines Teeds cosmological and spiritual beliefs. According to Teed the universe is a hollow sphere with the Earth at the center and the stars and galaxies on the inner surface of the sphere. He called this concept the cellular cosmogony and believed that it provided a scientific basis for his religious beliefs. Teeds religious beliefs which he called Koreshanity emphasized the oneness of all things and the importance of personal spiritual growth. He believed that humans could achieve spiritual enlightenment through a process of self-realization and that this process would ultimately lead to the transformation of the world. Teeds ideas were controversial and were not widely accepted by the scientific or religious communities of his time. However his work has had a lasting impact on the development of new religious movements and alternative cosmologies. Today Teeds theories continue to be studied and debated by scholars and enthusiasts of alternative cosmologies and religious movements.
